Eve Online is a unique game in numerous ways.  For many MMO I’ve played, I find their community-generated entertainment mostly concentrated on drama-rich official forums and myriad of gameplay videos.  Eve Online has those, too, but reading Kill Mails turns out to be the most enjoyable activity of this kind.

“Permanent record of glory and humiliation”, is how I’d describe them.  It is true that players can learn about fitting their ships and composing a good fleet from these kill mails. But more often than not, kill mails entertain simply by presenting the victim in the light of questionable sanity and intelligence.

A famous example would be the story of how a player had 74 PLEX cards destroyed in his ship cargo.  That’s equivalent of giving CCP $1,295 USD for free, or removing over six years of redeemable subscription time from the game.

Many other kill mails–mostly involving “fail fits” and overly expensive cargo–are simply fun to read, as they invoke various degree of “wtf” moments.

Irony, on the other hand, is harder to incorporate into the art of constructing entertaining kill mails.  The image above, however, has stood out quite nicely.

A Freighter of Gallente origin–a culture cherishes individual freedom and democracy–is caught transporting massive amount (160,800) of Slaves.  It took place in a solar system named “Utopia”, and when the ship is destroyed, all the slaves died with it.

Enjoy it yourself: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13706468

I suppose the best and worst part of it is: the mail is actually API Verified.  Irony troll is best troll anyone?

PS: Don’t mind the crappy thumbnail thingy… it’s the result of upgrading to WordPress 3.4… in process of finding a solution…
