Though it was my plan to post JP Tartaros updates with more play log on Tartaros TW server, I had the time not… yet this can’t wait.
As of this moment (and until Dec. 06), Tartaros Online JP server is now accepting 5000 closed beta positions.
Half of a day after has past and it seems 5000 accounts are all gone now… GG
However, don’t get your hopes up too high. The closed beta only lasts 5 days: Dec 10th to Dec 14; an interesting contrast to the beta’s sign-up period, which is 11 days (Nov 25 to Dec 06). Also, the most anticipated JP server exclusive content–localized voice overs–will not be available for closed beta.
Then of course, there will be perks… such as:
- 1000 out of the “chosen” ones will be rewarded 500 mk-style points
- Leave your name in the closed beta archive video
- A fansite kit with more content
- Ability to invite two other friends for the Closed Beta test
This sounds pretty lucrative to me… especially there’s the chance to mark my name in a video that has historical value, lol. Inviting two friends is something nice to do… however the total number of testers will be 15k max… –_– 15k accounts for 4 days of playing? or is it included in the 5000 beta accounts? Confused ._.
But to think about all those before actually secure a beta account for oneself is futile… and trust me, the procedure isn’t quite simple as you might think.

Tell me this isn’t some wacky way of MK-style trying to test their web server’s capacity. After you fail the mini game (which you will, and if you didn’t, please pray for the voice overs to be released or extend closed beta time because you, a person with excessive luck, should be communist and share it!), you can retry only after 3 minutes of waiting –_- Ignore the places where it says the waiting time is 5 minutes… is the inconsistency something intentional?
Assume the game is fair and pure chance, you have 1/8^3=1/512=0.195% chance of winning. So, keep playing for 512*3 = 1536 minutes = about 25.6 hours, and if the God of Statistics loves you, you might have a chance to win. Since I started writing this post I’ve been failed about 10 times now; that leads me to think the game might indeed be pure chance… and if that is really so, I doubt it’s possible for me to get in the closed beta after all, lol.

As I suspected, the game isn’t fair. The chance to get Nagi in first two slots is unnatually high, and to get her in the last slot is very low. Here’s some tip: open up your favorite browser and open up a bunch of tabs to the minigame page where are about to slick “Start Game”. The reason it works: your IP is logged after you hit the “Start Game” button, but your IP is only checked when you send out your email address. So every three minutes you can play the stupid mini game for all the tabs/windows you have. If you fail, don’t go back, just leave the window be and refresh it after 3 minutes.
